DT Unite: Building Social Skills and Awareness Through Games

Tu 01/07 - 02/11 6:15-7:00 pm PST

It is difficult being a teen in today’s world. Pressure from school, family, and an increasingly divided society add up! Many teens feel unheard. I’m listening! Come chat with like minded peers. Use games as a lens to examine societal challenges. Each class will have: - A brief spotlight on a common issue - The chance for open discussion - A thought provoking game

DT Deliberate: Building Critical Thinking Skills Through Moral Dilemmas

Tu 02/18 - 03/25 6:15-7:00 pm PST

Left or right? Hot or cold? Black, white, or gray? We’ll start with a brief introduction to moral reasoning and development. How do we know right from wrong and are morals variable? We’ll get comfortable deliberating all sides of a conflict with provided scenarios from the daily lives of average people. Whose version of events is accurate? Is one side being unreasonable? Learners will build critical thinking skills by examining multiple perspectives and exploring outcomes.

DT Save the World: Creating Solutions and Models for Social Change

Tu 04/01 - 05/20 6:15-7:00 pm PST

OK the world is a mess. What can we do about it? No, seriously, what CAN we do about it? Learners will pool their resources - their talents, skills, interests, and hobbies - to select one issue to take on. Learners will decide what kind of model to create. Roles and tasks will be decided on by consensus.
